About Theia Institute
Theia Institute is a Washington, DC–based nonprofit think tank focused on artificial intelligence governance, cybersecurity, digital trust, and responsible emerging technology.
We convene leaders from government, media, academia, civil society, and the technology sector to examine how digital systems are reshaping public trust, institutional decision-making, security, and accountability.
Through research, briefings, training, public engagement, and cross-sector dialogue, Theia Institute helps leaders understand complex technology issues and respond with clarity, responsibility, and practical governance.
Our work supports informed conversations on AI policy, cybersecurity resilience, digital governance, bias, transparency, media trust, and the ethical use of emerging technologies.

Our Purpose
Technology is moving faster than many institutions can adapt.
Artificial intelligence, cybersecurity threats, automated decision-making, and digital platforms are changing how people work, communicate, govern, and build trust.
Theia Institute exists to help leaders navigate that change with clarity, accountability, and informed dialogue.
We support research, convenings, briefings, training, and public engagement that help organizations better understand emerging technologies and the risks, responsibilities, and opportunities that come with them.
What We Do
Theia Institute works across four core areas:
AI Governance & Responsible Innovation
Exploring how artificial intelligence can be developed, deployed, and governed in ways that support transparency, accountability, fairness, and public trust.
Cybersecurity & Digital Resilience
Examining the policies, practices, and human factors needed to strengthen security in an increasingly connected world.
Digital Trust & Institutional Readiness
Helping organizations understand how technology affects credibility, public confidence, risk, and decision-making.
Education, Dialogue & Global Engagement
Convening experts, public-sector leaders, journalists, researchers, and communities to support informed discussion around emerging technology.

Global Dialogue & Public Engagement
Theia Institute’s work spans global dialogue, policy engagement, and practical education on AI governance, cybersecurity, digital trust, and responsible emerging technology. Through briefings, convenings, delegation engagements, conferences, and public education, Theia helps leaders connect complex technology issues to real-world decisions. Our engagement includes international delegations, policy consultations, academic forums, and cross-sector discussions focused on turning responsible technology principles into practical governance.
